If you have too many coats to count and random stuff, like a little

He-man doll tossed in the closet, then that is where you should start your spring cleaning.

Items you will need: basket organizers, hangers (all the same color), dusting items and vacuum or broom. A closet that is pleasing to look at will stay organized longer.

First, remove everything from closet. Then, separate into categories. For example, coat pile, accessories pile, miscellaneous pile. Do this without concern of what you are going to donate or put away in its proper place. If it is all out in the middle of the room, you will be more apt to complete the project and you will not be stopping every couple of seconds contemplating.

Next, clean the shelves and floor. Now you are ready to decide what items you are ready to donate and what will go back into your closet whether it is hung in color coordination or placed in a basket organizer.

Finally, MissMinimalist.com article “Where to Donate Your Stuff: 101 Places Your Clutter Can Do Good” may help you decide what you want to do with all that clutter.
