Assisting Louisiana

Catastrophe in Louisiana allows others to show their extraordinary hearts.

Earlier this month, rains brought historic flooding to parts of southern Louisiana. Four times the average rainfall for the entire month of August fell in a short period of time. In some areas, more than 20 inches fell in a few short hours damaging many homes and businesses. Because the rains fell so quickly, many people didn’t have time to prepare for the flooding, and were forced to leave the impacted areas with only the clothes on their backs.

Community Empowerment Center Pastor Dwayne Brinkley, who is a Divisional Director for EHD Technologies, his family, and members of his church traveled to Baton Rouge to offer their assistance. With combined financial support provided by EHD Tech, the Community Empowerment Center, and a personal donation of Pastor Brinkley, 84 cases of bottle water and 15 care packages containing various toiletries and personal care items were delivered to displaced families. In addition, Pastor Brinkley and members of his church assisted a Baton Rouge family, the Battles, in cleaning up their home from the damaged it received from more than 18 inches of water which had entered the home during the flooding.

The people of Louisiana will continue to have a need for assistance and clean-up for the foreseeable future. If you would like to help in some way, contact local area churches or the American Red Cross for ways you can assist. While the devastation in the area is great, and the thought of assisting everyone effected is overwhelming, Pastor Brinkley and his group show how small acts can make a huge difference one person at a time.
