Industry Leaders Form Texas Automotive Manufacturing Association


The formation of the Texas Automotive Manufacturing Association which includes original equipment manufactures (OEMs) and their suppliers in Texas' automotive industry was announced last week at the Southern Automotive Conference in Birmingham, Alabama.EndFragment

“This highly competitive industry is stronger under unified leadership and collaborative partnerships," stated, Amy Moffatt, Senior Manager of the Operations Management Development Division at Toyota Motor North America. "Working together to address challenges and opportunities we face as an industry will foster growth and prosperity for Texas-based OEMs and suppliers."

Automotive manufacturing has a strong presence in Texas, enjoying a close relationship with Mexican suppliers and strong economic conditions.

The Texas Automotive Manufacturing Association is being formed by representatives from the automotive manufacturing industry, Texas members of the Southern Automotive Women's Forum and legal and publishing firms, according to the release. The association will promote best-practice sharing and networking.

Texas Wide Open for Business published a report on the state's automotive manufacturing sector in 2013. At the time, Texas ranked sixth in the nation for automotive manufacturing jobs.
